How to Use Palo Santo Incense for Smudging & Space Cleansing

Palo Santo has been used in South American shamanic traditions for centuries as a tool for purifying spaces, clearing negative energy, and supporting meditation and ritual. Here is how each format is typically used:

• Incense sticks (smudging): Light the tip of the stick until a small flame appears, then blow it out after 30 seconds. Walk the stick through the space you want to cleanse, letting the smoke drift into corners and doorways. The stick self-extinguishes — it can be relit many times.
• Incense powder: Place a small amount on a lit charcoal disc inside a fireproof censer or burner. The powder produces an immediate and intense aromatic smoke — well suited for larger spaces, group rituals, or extended sessions.
